Introduction
A self publishing author is always over whelmed with onerous task of sekf publishing a book, finances are one of the most difficult to master. Many Authors waste alot of funds in unnecessary hiring of PR firms and getting awards which do not matter in getting the book to publish and importantly sell consistently without breaking bank.
Crowdfunding is a way to raise funds for a project or venture by soliciting small amounts of money from a large number of people. Here are some steps you can follow to try to get your book funded for publishing using crowdfunding:
- Choose a Crowdfunding Platform: There are many crowdfunding platforms available, such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and GoFundMe. Choose one that aligns with your goals and preferences.
- Create a Compelling Campaign: Each platform has its own guidelines for creating a campaign, so be sure to read and follow them closely. You’ll need to create a campaign page that clearly explains your project, sets a fundraising goal, and outlines the rewards or perks that backers will receive in exchange for their support. It is preferable to align your project with some cause which your audience will value. - Set Funding Target: Setting a realistic target is very important. As per the model of the crowd funding websites, if any project is unable to reach funding target then they get zero funding. - Promote Your Campaign: Once your campaign is live, it’s important to actively promote it to your network and beyond. Share the campaign page on social media, reach out to media outlets and blogs, and consider creating promotional materials like a video or press release.
- Engage with Your Backers: Regularly updating your backers on the progress of your project and thanking them for their support can help keep them engaged and motivated to spread the word about your campaign.
- Deliver on Your Promises: If you reach your fundraising goal, it’s important to follow through on the rewards or perks that you promised to your backers. This will help to build trust and credibility for future projects.
Crowdfunding can be a great way to get your book funded for publishing, but it’s important to be realistic about your goals and to put in the work to promote and manage your campaign. Also one of the con is that you look needy (begging), so must be careful while sending out your request for funding.
